Default JUST joined/WHAT do i say, WELL

I joined this forum quite exclusively because mydream car has Q U I T! my dream car is my 1980 Dodge diplomat"wagon" SLANT SIXengine. Took about six years to find me another slant six engine. My 1st slant was my 76 dodge van....miss it awfully!
Well the short of my diplomat is that despite a complete tune up: plugs, cables, cap, rotor, gas filter, and a module, it became harder to start despite perfect cranking. Crank and crank and crank finallyit would start until January 2nd done with work for the day NO starting! I installed a new ballast, nother new module and new coil: all i get is ONE spark at the coil: I pull the main center cable off the dist. cap, ground it and crank: O N E spark then nothing.......if the reluctor IS worn does the entire distributor have to be removed and how never removed one before. Can a reluctor be installed with the distributor in the engine, as tight as the distributor area is under the hood.COULD I HAVE A BAD GROUND???Or are these symptoms purely a worn reluctor?? THANK YOU FOLKS!!

My thought (or guess) is that it is within the distributor based on all you described changing, though the distributor itself sounded untouched. Plus, the "single" spark suggests it getting "juice" but not being deployed correctly...the distributor. Doubt it is ground or you probably would not be getting spark at all.

Tough to re-build in the car, though I know they are hard to get to to remove as well.

Good luck
