Default Need Info - 1983 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 Electrical

I have a 1983 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 with an apparent electrical problem. I have a new alternator, battery & voltage regulator installed ... however, I get no chargeback to the battery from the alternator. The alternator tested good at O'Reilly Auto yesterday ... 11/19/07.

I am an electronics technician that cannot figure out why this vehicle will not charge back to the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way ... all wiring harneses check good under the hood.

Thank you:

Is it the correct alternator? Some only need one field wire, others require two.

If all else fails, GM one-wire.

It is the alternator required according to both the manual ... and to the parts house.

After extensive testing, incuding a full field test ... I found the problem. I had to replace the voltage regulator 3 times, before getting a good one. Two were bad out of the box. I could understand if they were made overseas ... but these were made in America ... shame.

I bought a dipstick tube from the PAW catalog that said it was made in America but it broke when I put it in and it was clearly stamped Made in China...they said they can't control that...
