Its a really simple electric fan. Unplug on the right hand side. There is a plastic protector that you take off from the bottom. I think there are like 3 small bolts. Remove the cover over the top of the radiator. The only thing that is a pain is the radiator hose is going to get in your way. You have to wiggle the fan left and right and up to eventually get it out. Just some patience to get it out though, Nothing to bad. also, when pulling the fan up, there are tabs on the side that will catch on everything. have fun sir.

..I've never removed the pump blades on a water pump. Normally you replace the pump as a whole. Comes with new blades and everything. Easy swap.

I believe the man is asking about removing the actual engine fan that is turned by a belt.

Ohh sorry about that. Here is a link about a guy doing a Clutch fan delete, It has instructions on how to remove the fan though.

The only thing I would recommend other then this would be to put some PB Blaster on the nut 24 hours before you attempt.

Old thread - updating for those searching around for this solution.

I have twice been able to use a chisel to remove the old fan (2002 Dakota and 2003 Durango both 4.7L.) It unscrews in the usual counter-clockwise direction. For access I remove the shroud/reservoirs. I place the flat chisel on the edge of the nut and hit with a hammer a few times and it comes loose.

The specified tool for the job is expensive!
