I've got a set of old heads. Makes me want to pull the valves off of those and take a look.

Previous owner of my truck didn't change the oil too much, I've got thick layers of carbon built up in my motor, I'd probably have to use a hammer and chisel to get it all out...

My truck has been in my family for so long it didnt have much time to get neglected. So luckily the inside of the engine is pretty good for all the miles on it.

May not be bad for the mileage, but still not good lol.

I have been guilty of bargain shopping for gas when it was up in the 4 buck range......

is it just me, or does it loo like your tires lean in pretty far at the top?

I think that's gonna be round on the wheel bearings.....

I see what you mean, I think its just the picture as it looks fine in person. Just had it in an alignment shop and they said it looked all good.

Ok.

I have found that on specs that aren't adjustable, like camber on our front ends..... all too many alignment shops simply ignore it, even if it IS out of spec.

Explain this bargain shopping for gas. I thought 87 octaine was all you ever needed in these engines. Or are you talking about the quality of the 87 oct sold around town?

It's not the octane -- for that, you go as low as you can without developing pinging or detonation, and call it good. It's the quality that counts. Run Top Tier gas and things stay cleaner, and you don't get metallic additives that are harmful to everything from the injectors onward.

If it's not something you're up on: Top Tier gas meets standards set by a group of automakers, standards more stringent than what the EPA allows, and intended to enable engines to actually meet the mandated durability standards. It's real no-5h17 engineering behind it: Use those fuels and your engine, including the cat and sensors, will last a lot longer. So it's a choice of paying to the pump or the garage.
