Default Weird ABS problem

I have had this problem happen twice now, approximately 2 months apart same off ramp and time of day. I'm on my way home and approach my exit ramp from 70mph freeway, when I apply the brakes the van shutters violently the harder I press. The van is then fine by the time I get to my house another 1.5 miles. First time I thought I warped a disc, checked the brakes and rotors, still like new condition. Went for a test drive and can't repeat the problem. Second time I noticed an odd sound a couple miles before my exit. When I touched my brakes the vibration was worse, thought it was going to literally fall apart on me. Got home and checked my lug nuts, they were fine. I later realized it is my ABS acting up, either a sensor thinks my wheel is not turning or the ABS controller is acting up and activating the ABS. Any ideas?

My van has about 65k miles on it. Would the problem still be under warranty? 100k drive chain warranty.

My van did this a third time yesterday. When I got to a top of a hill, I put the van in neutral and turned off the engine. The weird noise continued even after restarting the engine.

Hi Jim,

I would certainly recommend having your dealership inspect and diagnose the problems you've been experiencing. If it is an issue with your brakes or sensors, you will likely not have warranty coverage, as those are not powertrain components. However, the dealership would give you confirmation on what is and isn't covered based on their diagnosis.

While coasting, with engine, off was it still pulsating?

Yes. I did find the problem. The problem arises with sustained speed of 75mph. I had a stuck front inside pad with a slight warp in the rotor. Greased the slides and turned the rotor and everything is better. Pads have more than half their life still, but need to get new rotors before winter.

Default Same Prob but on 2013 GC Crew

My GC Crew has 28K miles, I travel down a fairly steep hill 500 ft drop in less than 1/2 mile.

This does not do it all the time only 5 times in 1-1/2 years on ownership. It does it if it sits unused for some time. Speed doesn't make a difference. Once driven it goes away.

This is good info and I will look at the pads and rotors with soon tire rotation.

Thanks for the post.

The turned rotor didn't last too long, got new rotors last fall, been good since.
