Auto trans shift problems with plow raised
Weird thing here. 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 gas, 46RE trans HD snow and tow factory. I cant put the thing in park when the plow is up. When I'm moving the plow up, the trucks motor and trans drops a bit compared to frame height.....and it literally "pulls" the trans shifter down towards reverse(not out, but you see the shifter move down on plow up). Crazy. It wont go into full park(key removal) with the plow up? It will if I drop the plow,and have been doing in gear....before putting in park.
Engine mounts look good. Trans mount looks good.
Maybe the springs are shot? Shocks r 2 years old(all 4). Maybe just a bind in the linkage? I dropped it be a tranny shop......it was rebuilt 3 years ago. Just looking for ideas as it may snow soon here.
Any ideas?

While having a friend operate the plow, get up under the truck and look closely at the truck's frame, especially the part where the plow mount bolts to the frame. As I recall, there are quite a few large bolts that connect the plow frame to the truck frame. Something tells me that there might be a few loose bolts holding the plow mount to the truck frame or possibly a break in the frame (or a broken weld/rust) that's causing the odd bucking to occur, thus throwing off the shifter linkage. Let us know what you find.

I dropped by a local tranny shop. Motor mounts good, tranny mount fine. Shift linkage good......What do you know? That tranny shop finds my broken front cab body supports. the extra weight presses my cab against the frame a bit more an pinches the linkage.
I order them online from the 1 place that shows in stock, all others show discontinued. Get an email back yesterday, sorry they are discontinued.
You can find them used on ebay for $275 for the pair. So I keep searching for a fix on youtube so I can plow this year. Low and behold, Oct 16 youtube with 3 comments, and he tells where to get them.
I hope this is allowed to say, I'm not pushing this site. But I'm sure alot of peeps here might need these.
Auto Body Specialists fabs their own cab support mounts. It was $220 for the front 2. They have rears, and mid also if you have a crew.
So if anybody here has worked on this, my question is for the mount bushings. Is the metal cuplike bushing holder at the top welded to the mount support? Or is it just tightened by the screw? And what type of nut is inside the mount support? I'm just unsure I will be able to use my bushings and hardware? Its a rusty old plow truck .
