Default 2007 dakota transfer case shift motor diagnosis

4wd hi/lo engages on its own while dash selector switch is in 2wd. Turning ignition off in neutral temporarily fixed it but SVC 4wd lght is on. Is it the transfer case shift motor that needs replacement?

YES!!!! first thing to do is remove the transfer case switch fuse, 25 amp in back of fuse box, happen to me, 70mph and truck wanted to shift into 4 hi, so you need to replace the switch and change out the trans axle fluid. problem should be fixed.
