Default P2425 powertrain error code

Hey guys,

Another topic from my Caliber..

I plugged in an OBD scanner just for interest sake and came up with the following error,

'P2425 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling Valve Control Circuit/Open' - No dash lights are on though.

Is this a cause for concern? I tried to clear the code but it came back again.

Thanks

Never seen that code before, but if it isn't triggering the CEL, then I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know of an EGR cooler, unless it is talking about the solenoid that operates the EGR valve itself, which i am pretty sure that it would definitely light the CEL. I am guessing the the CEL does light when starting the car to verify that the bulb works?

Good day Lxman,

Yes the CEL lights up when starting the car and then goes off once the engine is running.

As far as I can tell the car runs well, just wasnt sure about that code either. I've informed the dealer about it and he assured me its nothing major and to just keep an eye on it and if the CEL comes on then we can have a look..

Hopefully its nothing major
