1997 and 1999 engine wireing different?
I have a 1997 and a 1999 Dakota. I swapped the interior from the 1999 to the 1997 and the truck would still run but I had no headlights. So I swapped the wiring with the fuse box under the hood and I have headlights now but the truck will not run. I tried switching the pcm and still nothing. So now I am in the process of switching the engine wiring. I think the 1999 has a 46re and my 97 has the 44re. And the transfer cases are different. I am going to swap the engine anyway and maybe the transfer cases but I don't really want the 46re cause when I bought the truck and drove it home it didn't have first gear. So my question is what is the best and easiest way to pull an engine on a soft wet ground? And where do you hook the engine lift cause I don't see any place to hook to?

I could always push the truck out from under the engine if I can't get the engine to move. I don't know, I'll figure it out though. So far all the wires from the 99 are now on my 97 i just have to change the neutral safety switch and the transfer cases and I'll be done with the 97. Then I have to completely reassemble the 99 with the 97 stuff. I did have to swap the brake light switch also. If anyone else ever does this just make sure you have the donor truck nearby for the parts that have different plugins. Thanks for the help.
