I know what ya mean Wishbone, and I understand your loyalty to your team, but think about this. If the Texas safety does not drop that pass, and Texas wins the Tech game, Texas would be undefeated, in the Nat Champ game and McCoy would be the Heisman winner. That senerio doesnt change who Bradford or McCoy is,what they accomplished or stats, but it changes the press coverage thay would get. And lets face it, if your not in the press limelight, you have no chance of winning anything. Look at the list of phenominal players I listed above that are almost un heard of. If Case Keenum would have thrown for 5000 yards playingfor USC instead of Houston, he would have been touted as the second coming of Joe Montana. But he playes for hapless Houston, so his accomplishments go un noticed. Its a shame that the press dictates who the country gets to see. Thats the point I was trying to get across, not that Bradford wasnt deserving of the award, just that there are others, to me anyway, that are more deserving. Thats why I think the Heisman is hype. Bradford winning the player of the year was more impressive to me than the Heisman.

We were lucky to see how serious Texas Tech was...werent they one of the big 12s big dogs?
However, the heisman has nothing to do with the pros, and its been proven year after year. I thought that tebow deserved it because hes a stronger all around player in my opinion...but turns out opinions make the forum bad...

Anyways, the day Jason "you want fries with that?" White was picked over Larry "thats my ball son" Fitzgerald, the greatest wide receiver in college football history, was the day that that POS trophy became a ****ign joke. Who cares who wins the popularity contest voted on by a bunch of morons who wouldn't know the best football player if he kicked them in the nuts and ****ed their wife.
I'm sorry, but when Reggie Bush wins the Heisman because of a performance against a bad defensive team, all I can say is its worthless..
The Heisman is a joke, and has been for about the last 20 years or so....
More often then not, it goes to the biggest standout player on one of the top 2-3 teams in the country, not the best player in the country....
Ricky Williams, Jason White, Eric Crouch, Ron Dayne, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Troy Smith, Carson Palmer.....put up huge numbers on good teams, but only Palmer has really amounted to even half of anything in the NFL...the rest either had 1-2 good years...or were role players......Bush went from being the man at USC to being an average RB in the NFL..
I couldn't agree more. Its like I said above, it boils down to face time. Coaches have as much to do with it as the players themselves. If a coach promotes a player by allowing them to shine by amassing numbers at the expense of weaker teams, then you make the player LOOK better. Maybe not a true measure of talent, but the stats are padded. I said months ago that Brown lost the Heisman for McCoy by sitting him late in the third and most times all of the fourth quarter. Had Brown allowed McCoy to continue to throw and run late in games his offense would have been the equal to the OU offense. McCoy was close as it was, but Brown rested him, played backups, and lost the Heisman for McCoy. But I still dont think McCoy would have been the best player in all of college football.

Bradford broke records only because they stayed on the field and continued to run up the score against terrible teams or teams that were obviously beaten. He's to college football this year what Tom Brady was to the NFL last year. Good but not great with inflated stats.
Let's see how this guy does in the NFL against the best of the best with a mediocre offensive line.
My vote was for Shonn Greene and not just because I am a Hawkeye fan but look at what the guy did. He was irresponsible and had bad grades so he was at Kirkwood Community College for a year and didn't play to get his grades up which he did. Then he comes back to start for Iowa and is the only back to go for over 100yds in every single game of the season. If Iowa hadn't had Greene back then they wouldn't have won nearly as many games and Ricky Stanzi would be getting ridiculed just as bad as Christiansen.
Greene carried a mediocre team on his back all season long and never slowed down. I would of liked to of seen Iowa play USC this year. I honestly think that they would have played a better more consistent game than PSU did and I think Greene would of still been over 100yds.
The only reason a guy like Greene or the other great backs on lesser known teams didn't get an invite is either because they don't play for a big name school such as USC, or Oklahoma or they didn't win nearly all of their games on the season. The Heisman doesn't go to the best individual player. It goes to whatever big name player, from a big name school, happens to be the most popular on the year. Guys who face little adversity and beat up on weaker teams simply to inflate their stats.
Have fun with your Heisman curse Bradford and it will be fun watching you throw picks and get sacked in the NFL. If he somehow becomes a starter I can't wait to see how he handles having guys like Haynesworth, or Harrison in his face. Not something he would be used to.

I mentioned Greene in an earlier post as one I would pick as more deserving than Bradford. For the same reasons you mentioned. So not everyone was blinded by the spotlight that shined on Bradford. I saw your boy play Shibby, and I saw one hell of a good running back!
