Would you blame him? He is only a sophomore so he could still benefit by coming back. If he goes I hope Stafford goes before him. That would give Sam a great shot at being in Kansas City. Not a chiefs fan but a much more stable franchise than Detroit.
If I was entering the draft, there is not a single chance in hell I'd play for Detroit..... I'd sooner refuse to play...
There's a reason why no one wants to play there, and its because they LOSE. I'm not saying that teams cant turn it around with the addition of a few players, but Detroit hasnt been able to turn itself around since the birth of Christ...
I mean seriously, every franchise in the NFL since 1980 has made at least a conference championship game EXCEPT the Cardinals, Texans, and the Lions....and the Texans have had a better record since they were created then the Lions, despite never having a single season above .500
I'd definitely pull an Eli Manning, or simply put, not enter teh draft unless I had no choice...
Well whoever mentioned Shun White at Navy... he did great things as far as the rush per yds... but the BCS is biased, for the simple fact that they know if they give a Heisman to a +2 year service academy player, it would cost a quick buyout to the government to the tune of $300,000 before they even got to the draft, etc. It happens, but not very often. No one has paye that much attention to a football program at a service academy since Vince Lambardi coached at West Point. And that was a long time ago! lol
As far as Shonn Green, he got looked over pretty hard for the Heisman. But it was touched on in a different thread (and for a different reason). And that is, Iowa football didn't have a huge bandwagon or media following at the beginning of the year. The media schedule didn't follow either, since Iowa is not a favorite in Big 10 broadcasting. I wasn't on the Iowa bandwagon, but I think they finished out the year very, very strong, and convincing. And yes, Shonn Green did carry most of that O-line on his back and make the right moves to win games. But it is what it is... he didn't get the exposure others got, and lets face it, players coming fresh off of rape controversy and other legal issues with other players on the team didn't help. I don't agree with that at all, don't get me wrong... Shonn Green should have been looked at more closely for the Heisman. But, he just didn't have the hype going his way for reasons I mentioned. And do I agree with Bradford getting it? Um, no. Personally, I think he's a flash in the pan. Tebow or Green were miles ahead of Bradford in my book.
almost all of the heisman winners are "flash in the pan" players who never amount to anything in the NFL...but as weve discussed before, the award has nothing to do with how well they might play on sundays...which is how grocery baggers like jason white win.
the jury is obviously still out on tebow and bradford, but look at the list of past winners...every QB to win in the last 20 years has been an NFL failure, although some bengals fans will argue that palmer is legitimate...but how serious can we take a bengals fan? reggie bush has flairs of greatness from time to time and i think that he could be a good back, but he needs more help around him....
the last player to win the heisman and make any real impact in the NFL is charles woodson, and the only really solid offensive player in a long time was eddie george. its almost as if the heisman is a prediction by voters of "who will drop the hardest when they get paid to play"...and the voters have been dead on lately.
oh..and one other thing...there is no "E" in "ridiculous". the best is when someone is making fun of someone elses intelligence, and they spell simple words like ridiculous incorrectly.

I'd consider Palmer to be a good QB, but he's stuck in Cincinnati and that'll ultimately kill his career. If he were to leave, he could salvage that career..
