Default Coaches being fired for using profanity.

so, one of my biggest challenges when i became active here, years and years back, was learning to watch my language. I had come from a few forums run by kids, where everyone talks like theyre in prison...so i had to learn to cut back on the F-bomb.

however, i do have a fairly profane vernacular...and when i coach, and get pissed off, i swear. i dont care who it is...the other coach, players, parents..etc. every coach ive ever played for, has used profanity...every coach ive coached WITH, has used profanity.

well, it turns out that a few local school districts have fired coaches because their language was offensive to the parents, and its "found to be hurtful to the players morale"

what a bunch of crap. its bad enough that hockey is turning into a non-contact sport..but now we have to talk like were in church?

is this complete nonsense, or am i not coddling these kids enough? mind you, i dont call the kids swear works..no "youre a piece *****"..none of that..but when im trying to emphasize my point, i throw in a few f-bombs...hell, the kids swear a ton more than i do, and i dont see a problem with that. the football coach works on school property, and he uses the same set of colorful terms as i do...

I see what you mean....If your not singling them out or directing it towards them personally then I don't see what the problem is...it's not like these kids are 7 years old.

My two high school head football coaches really didn't swear at all. Instead he would make us run and run until we got some right.

its gotten really bad. its bad enough that USAHockey thinks that making high school kids play by european rules will eventually open the game up more, but its not working. the penalties that the NHL has instituted to 'cleaned up play' and 'increase scoring' have effectively turned high school hockey into a penalty fest. basically, they want as little contact as possible..and the kids who are "too small to hit" buy into the BS about playing a speed game...even when they dont have any speed.

Trust me I know, I'm so sick of people whining about violent sports.....physical contact will always be violent, especially when you are running and tackling and hitting....its part of the game...and they just need to get over it..

Hockey should not be a non-contact sport, I just don't see that working at all... Furthermore if these parents knew anything they'd realize that their kids are probably hearing and saying far worse in the halls.
