Default Steelers QB named in Sex Assault

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

Quote:
RENO, Nev. (AP)—Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger(notes) has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a woman in Nevada.
According to online court records, a defamation lawsuit was filed in Washoe County on Friday. Andrea McNulty is listed as the plaintiff.
Details of the suit were not available late Monday night. Roethlisberger was one of nine defendants listed in the online court docket report.
Roethlisberger’s attorney released a statement to several media outlets Monday night saying the two-time Super Bowl winner was accused of sexual assault in the lawsuit by McNulty. Atlanta-based attorney David Cornwell denied Roethlisberger sexually assaulted McNulty.

“This weekend Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008. Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated,” Cornwell said.
A phone message and e-mail from the AP to Cornwell were not immediately returned.
Attorney Calvin R. Dunlap, of Reno, filed the suit, according to court documents. A telephone message left for him was not immediately returned.
Yanno, this crap is getting old...... when will the money grubbers quit with crap like this? A few years ago it was Kobe Bryant, and in recent years, its been more football players...

This is just utter crap, and while it's completely possible it's true, I'm just not inclined to believe this one...

This is retarded. Damn lawyers think that they file a suit that could interrupt practice/game time so the defendant will just pay to make it go away.

If it was a Dallas Cowboy, then maybe I would believe it... LOL

Well, over on TMZ Ben actually said that he has had sexual relations back then. At the same time though, the woman sueing Ben had an internet affair with a fake soldier.

It seems that the woman was chatting this guy up on the net that said he was a soldier over in Iraq. The man eventually stopped as he was married, but the wife of that man continued the affair going on. When she stopped, that sent the woman spiraling downward to the point that she is now seeing a shrink because of it. The woman tells everyone that the soldier was killed and that is why the emails have stopped.

With her being crazy and Ben admitting that they had sex, this could go either way.

its a wonder athletes dont make these whores sign something before they screw. its one thing for him to do something stupid like run into a car on a motorcycle, or for a player to get pissed off and shoot up a strip club, but its naive to think that ANY professional athlete has to rape anyone. he could walk into any bar, any night of the week, and he would have girls hanging from him, begging for a piece of his famous ass.

a friend of mine back home owns a bar and he has pittsburgh athletes come sign autographs. a couple years back, he had phil borque, a retired NHLer from the 91-92 cup years to sign autographs. it was unreal how women throw themselves at him, and he was 10 years out of the league.

Not true if you read her story in the court documents none of it meshes and there is no proof to back up her accusations. She doesn't have a hope and a prayer of winning a penny and she shouldn't. The only thing she is accomplishing is being a huge distraction but I think Ben will adjust this will be forgotten after the first few games of the season and life will go one. I hate gold diggers.

Okay first of all it's been over a year since the incident so there is going to be absolutely no physical evidence proving that said situation even occurred not to mention she is only going by her own word. Your word doesn't exactly win your court cases especially civil ones.

Second she has accused the Hotel owners of trying to cover up the incident, but at the same time she said she kept this situation to herself up until now because she didn't want to lose her job. How did the Hotel owners find out if she didn't tell them what happened? I seriously doubt Ben Roethlisberger told them. Why would he tell anyone he raped someone if he did?

Third she said that people broke into her house or apartment or whatever and deleted her hard drive. Why would someone delete her hard drive? What does that have to do with anything? She never said she had any proof and never said there was anything on the hard drive so why the wild accusation that someone came and did that?

Fourth and lastly she was supposedly obsessed with some marine or someone she was going out with before and has a restraining order against her and she is in financial trouble. Is the picture becoming clearer now?

Polygraph tests are not 100% correct. You could go in and fail a polygraph test simply because you are overly nervous. That is why generally polygraph tests are inadmissable in court.
