To derive a team’s poll percentages in the Harris Interactive and USA TODAY polls, each team’s point total is divided by a maximum 2850 possible points in the Harris Interactive Poll and 1575 possible points in the USA TODAY Poll.
Teams are assigned an inverse point total (25 for #1, 24 for #2, etc.) for each of their respective computer poll rankings to determine the overall computer component. The highest and lowest ranking for each team is dropped, and the sum total of the remaining four rankings is divided by 100 (the maximum possible points). This figure produces a Computer Rankings Percentage. The six computer ranking providers are Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe. Each computer ranking accounts for schedule strength within its formula.
The BCS Average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive and USA TODAY Polls, and Computer rankings. The highest BCS Average receives the #1 ranking, the second highest receives #2, and so forth.
Note: Teams on NCAA probation (i.e. not eligible for postseason competition) are not listed in the BCS Standings.

i expect cinci to crumble. theyre like the new buttgers...playing way over their heads and getting some attention, but eventually theyd come across a real team to show how weak they were.

Iowa definitely deserves a chance. The only really weak team Iowa has played this year that I'll agree they should have beaten more easily was Arkansas State. All the sports announcers cry about how they barely beat Northern Iowa because Northern Iowa is in the lowly FCS. What a crock of crap. Northern Iowa is one of the best teams in the FCS and the past couple of years they have come very close to playing in the FCS championship game.
Not to mention Iowa has a schedule in which they play probably the consensus top 4 teams in the Big Ten all on the road. Just because they don't win big doesn't mean they aren't good. Consistently they are picked against and annoucers nit pick every little thing about them yet somehow magically they keep winning.
CBS Sports says Iowa has the 4th strongest schedule in the nation. I've been talking with Exubus about Iowa a lot. We agree that Iowa deserves a shot. He wants to see Florida/Iowa. I personally want to see Florida/Texas. SEC has beaten the Big 10 to death. Time to beat on the Big 12's other team.
The SEC didn't do so well against Iowa last year. Iowa has played the SEC very well in bowl games.
January 1, 2004 Outback Bowl W Florida 37 17
January 1, 2005 Capital One Bowl W LSU 30 25
January 2, 2006 Outback Bowl L Florida 24 31
December 29, 2006 Alamo Bowl L Texas 24 26
January 1, 2009 Outback Bowl W South Carolina 31 10
The loss against Florida in 06 could have been much different if the refs hadn't blown a call and they damn near beat Texas in 06 also. Iowa has a pretty good record against the SEC bowl games dating back to the 80's
