I want to start out by saying I love the Chargers and 300C's. I think they are bada$$ cars! My intention of posting isn't to troll or act like I think I have something special. I just have always wanted the opportunity to run a Charger and none ever bite.
So with that said is there anyone in the Tampa Florida area interested in meeting up at either Bradenton (1/4mile) or Sunshine (1/8mile) track? I'm going to go to a few different forums and get comparable vehicles.
I'm looking to gather:
Charger R/T
300C
Magnum R/T
Impala SS
Or any other domestics that don a V8 in that class.
What I drive is in my sig. For those that don't know the 97 Mark VIII has the 4.6 32V V8. It's the same motor that was in the late 90's Cobra. The only difference between the actual Cobra and the Mark VIII is a tad bit more aggressive intake cam, and a different intake manifold.
Anyone up for a good competition?

The Cobra block is aluminum and the Mark VIII block is cast iron is it not?
No it has aluminum head and block.
Come on there has to be someone local that is willing to represent the Mopar crowd.

I have no clue. In the 1/4 mile some guys run low 15's stock whereas some have run as low as mid 14's stock. Driver, weather, track condition all play big parts.
So I'm assuming since I've drag raced numerous times before, but I haven't taken this car to the track yet I'll probably hit the middle of the road in that range. However since I have a tune, exhaust (with 1 of 3 cats eliminated and turned into true duals), and the K&N filter which alone gives me 30hp...(j/k j/k I know a k&n maybe gives me like 2hp ) I should run the same as a perfect stock driver or a tad better.
So I'm putting my change on like a 14.3-14.5 in the 1/4 mile.
But again that's all speculation. I could run a 17 for all I know

the questionable factor is the tune. i know how big of a deal it makes for many of the mustang motors, and how much gain there is to be had. do you run a canned tune, or dyno tune?

Next time im in tampa we can run.....I have a friend who lives in fla who has a monte ss thats fast. As for our charger many a mustang has gotten a sjurprise from our R/T it has few mods.

True. I got a tune from a guy that specifically works with Fords and is known to usually get within 2hp of an actual dyno tune. It is his own custom tune, not a regular canned tune. He actually is the guy that did all of the Mercury Marauder police cars for Florida. They had him build a number of modded Marauders for the police force.
The reason he gets so close with the tune is he's worked with so many of my model car that he has learned what they react too. Of course there is always a variance from car to car which is why it's not as perfect as a dyno tune.
But then again it could gain a bunch more from the actual dyno tuen. I won't know till I get her actually dyno tuned someday.

I never underestimate any car. I just like to compete with cars that are of equal standing (meaning both are meant to be performance oriented V8's, not that they are in equal car classes). I bet you would give my car a surprise, but we'll never know till we get to run
