I believe those numbers are from Hot Rod. Car Craft got a 14.3 out of a 91 Z but technically they're not an IROC since Chevy lost sponsorship of the series to Dodge that year. I'll agree 100% with the chance of running up against a 350 car. Very few in my area. I found my car in NJ.

The newer '91-up Z28's are far better than the previous IROC's, which is why I figure that you currently have a '91 Z instead. The times I found were on an IROC Camaro website, they listed times for every year and version imaginable. I think they may have lised all Camaros in general, but I was only looking for the IROC's. Since they only had a best of 245 horsepower, low 14's seems a bit optimistic whereas the high 14's I found seemed to be more what I figured. Some just get everything just right and I believe a low 14 is possible out of a stock IROC, but not that would be consistently repeatable. Just like the highly under rated SRT-4's, I have seen stock SRT-4's run everywhere from the mid 15's to mid-high 13's and they were factory rated at 215 for '03 and 230 for '04-'05 horsepower yet they put out more than that at the wheels.
My friend had an 87 Camaro and the engine blew so he asked if I would take it for $100. I have alot of chevy friends so I said sure just to experiment and see how fast I could go on a budget and show that a Mopar mechanic could beat them at there own game.
I built a mild 350 with 993 heads, 9.7:1 compression, headers and left everything else stock.
After a week the 700r4 lost 1st, 3rd, and 4th.
I installed a turbo350 and then it broke the rear end 3 times. The engine was only making about 360 hp and maybe 400ft/lbs of torque.
I sure had fun beating up on those LS1 Camaro SS's though. I sold the car soon after I built it since it wasn't as fast as the Roadrunner with the 383 in it, and the Roadrunner was getting pissed having to share space with a mid 80's Crapmaro.

The 90-92's are the quicker cars due to the addition of dual catalytic converters, different cam and a switch to Speed Density engine management versus the early style MAF which is extremely restrictive. There's usually a solid .5 second difference between the two in stock form and it only gets worse with mods because of the afore mentioned MAF restriction. That's exactly why I chose the '91. I considered a 4th gen car but to me they look like a Geo Storm on Steriods. The LT1 is a great engine design but I'm not a fan of that body style. As far as the SRT-4's, I've raced a couple guys from this board out at the track and both ran pretty consistent. They were pretty much set up the same. One ran 13.9-14.0 and the other 14.2. The quicker car would reel me in at the top of the track but couldn't quite catch me before the end. The slower car would fall several cars back off the line and stay there for the distance. I'd have to say a mid 15 second SRT-4 is most likely driver and not the car.
Trust me it is at least partly driver, I had one helluva time trying to launch mine for it's first time at the track. Part of it was the track, it is well known for being a slow track and had to be completely redone over the winter due to water coming up through the track. My 60 ft. times were horrific, but the rest was spot on. I simply need more track time at a good track. My Roadrunner is easy to launch since it's RWD, but the SRT-4's FWD is not very easy even with a limited slip diff.[:@]
where ya from z? i have something that would like to take a shot at reeling you in...
and 71.a.re you calling NTR a slow track? i usually run decent there...not as fast as norwalk, ut abou as fast as i am at PRP. have you been to quaker?

I've only had the chance to run at NTR so far. I was going to go to Norwalk this coming week, but with my less than perfect back and lower than needed paychecks from missing work from it, I will have to wait until another day.[&o]
I'm in Cleveland OH. I usually race out at Dragway 42 but the track prep there is terrible. Much better at Norwalk but much more traffic also, so I don't get to make as many passes. Time in sig is from last fall in near perfect conditons. I usually run 13.8-13.9 @ 99-100 with 60 ft of 1.9-2.0 on radials. If I can spare the extra money before they close the track, I'm going to pick up a set Drag Lites and ET Streets and see what I can do. I currently have 17x9.5 ARE TT II's with 275/40/17 Nitto's and 17x11 ARE TT II's with 315/35/17 Nitto's. The track and weather can make a huge difference. Very nice collection of vehicles, BadStratRT. I'm always up for a race! I'll bring my buddies lightly modded '00 SS M6 too.
