Default Tighten up Torsion bars

I was thinking about tightening up my torsion bars on my 2004 1500 ram 4x4. Has anybody done this? I really want to level out my truck. I hoping it doesn't stiffin up the ride to bad.

Thanks Ian

I did it, It lifted it about an inch and a half. I felt no difference in the ride.

Just make sure you take it into a shop and have them adjust your toe in...that will change if you lift the front end with your torsion bars.

I added 1.5 inche spring shackles in the rear of my Durango and cranked my torsion bars up to level it off and felt no ride difference.

I bought new torsion keys for mine (just arrived today) but from what I could find on the net, for every 1/4" you crank down the adjustment bolt, you get 1" of lift, so maybe I should have tried that before I spent the money, but personally, I'd rather have new parts so I can move the bars later if I need to.

I cranked the bars ALOT to level my 04 after installing a 3" body lift. I never liked the ride afterwards. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldnt turn em quite that far, or spend the money on a leveling kit.

Got my keys put it and honestly the ride quality did suffer a little bit, but that's because the shocks are close to fully extended. I definitely need new, longer shocks to compensate for the travel difference. Looking at Bilsteins. Anyone have opinions to compare to Bilsteins?

bad idea most of the time you will get a more worse ride and you take your truck off-roading you could run the risk of bending or breaking the bars
