Ever since the article in the new Game Informer came out about the failure rate amongst new console systems it has reignited the war of the fanboys. Already on forums and on youtube video comment sections I am reading all of this crap from people about whose system is the best and their stupid reasoning as to why.
I don't know about anyone else but I am about sick and tired of listening to fanboys whine and complain about the system that they own being better than the system someone else owns. I own all three, each system has its respective titles that the other ones don't have so in order to play all of the best games it's necessary to keep an open mind and own all three.
As for the failure rate of the xbox from what I understand the poll they took on that was of 5,000 people. I hardly think that size of a group is going to provide an accurate enough depiction of the failure rates of the three systems. I understand the red rings of death is a big issue with the xbox but Microsoft owned up to it and increased the warranty on the systems. If my system breaks it breaks, I am not going to be happy about it but that's why I have other systems as a backup plan.
Personally I have owned my current 360 for about 3 years and haven't had one issue with it. I had a 360 I had to sell before my current one (had to pay taxes) that was a first gen that I bought on the day of the release and I had that one for about a year and had no problems with it either. Nor have I had any issues with my PS3 or Wii for that matter. The last time I had issues with a console was when I had to send in my first generation ps2 for repairs. I think its just a matter of how much you play your system and how well you take care of it. If you are letting it sit around never blowing the dust or anything out of it and playing it for almost 10 hours a day you are going to have problems before someone who takes care of their system and plays it less its really no different than a computer.

People who make reasons why they like the 360, OTHER than the failure rate are not fan boys. People, like me, say that BESIDES the failure rate, the 360 is more likable to them. If someone is going to bash the system, I'm going to show the many reasons why I personally like the system better, despite the failure rate. I like the controls, features, online play, exclusive games, content etc. Yeah graphics are important, but when they are only slightly better on the PS3, then it doesn't make a difference. The only two complaints I have about the 360 are that it's missing a Blu Ray type deal and the failure rate. I can find way more complaints about the PS3.
I am sick of fanboys bashing the 360 whenever they get a chance. There's quite a few here that do that. I hate that us that defend the system are labeled fan boys just because we like it better.
Yeah its a joke. I must admit though back in the days of PS1 and PS2 I was a Sony fanboy for a little while at least until I finally gave in because everyone was blabbing about Halo, then I found out how stupid it was to be loyal to just one brand name as far as gaming systems go.
Honestly the PS3 to me is a great system but perhaps if it would have been cheaper in the first place more people would of bought it. The xbox is just more appealing overall because the library of games is almost triple that of the PS3 and more often than not the graphics on Xbox games are generally better than their equivalent versions on PS3. This of course is not true for every game but if you take look at Fallout 3 for example the Xbox 360 version is actually better looking and the draw distances are much better. Some people think that because the PS3 has the more powerful processor that it automatically has better graphics and capabilities when in fact the differences in processing power are more than made up for by the Xbox in its better GPU.
The 360 was first to market. by a long time. Yes it has issues. (depending on who you listen to it ranges from a few to a lot.)
I fix consoles. not just 360's, but PS3 and Wii's. When I buy a broken console to flip, I buy an xbox. I get them cheaper than the "other two" and it costs next to nothing to fix them. From the RROD standpoint, I dont care about it. I have had so many apart that its a piece of cake to open, pull the x-clamps, reflow, and reassemble. it takes me and hour an a half to do one, and 50 minutes of that is re-flowing the board.
I am looking at this from a standpoint that most dont. time and cost effectiveness.
PS3's take forever to fix. up to 15 days. Because I have to pull it apart, figure out what broke, and order it. Most of the parts have to come from china. I will spend 3/4 of the price of a new one, if I buy a broken one and fix it. When someone asks me to fix one, its super cheap for them, because they already have that initial investment. whats another 80 bucks in parts?
The PS3 should by all rights be the better console. if the library of games was better, it most likely would be.
It still lacks the features, online play and controller of the 360. And it's always been more expensive. Would take more than a few good games to make me buy one.
This is how I look at it. I love my 360 and I love my Wii. in fact you all know how much I love my Wii. As for the ps3. Well until I see something other than a game machine and fancy blue ray player that has games out that I'm actually interested in instead of one and a sequel to that coming out, then I'm just not interested.
It shouldn't matter what you like as longas you have fun with it.

I can agree with the other arguments here, I'll even agree that the failure rate is almost moot because of how the systems break and the cost of parts between the two. But your statement Chase, half is false and the other is perspective. I say that because firstly, the PS3 has as many features if not more, than the 360. The PSN has not only all the features of live, but it's free. So those are the fallacies, and now the perspective, the same can be said about wii controller by playstation owners, and about the 360 controller by wii owners.
You like yours, I like mine, no reason to argue over which is better, but if one must argue, they should use better points. I like the games that are out for the 360, but that's the only thing that I see as being better, the game selection.

First of all this is coming from a guy who owns both a ps3 and xbox and plays both online. PSN is nowhere near what Xbox live is. I don't care about the $60 a year I pay for xbox live because there is loads of new content every month. On PSN there is new content sporadically and in small amounts. If you get onto the Japanese Playstation Store there is a ton more content than on the North American one. The Japanese have a huge library of downloadable PS1 games that aren't available in North America. For example only now in North America can you download Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil Director's Cut but in Japan those were already released and in fact Japan has both Resident Evil 2 (Best in the Series) and Resident Evil 3 and we don't. I find it kind of stupid that Sony caters to everyone in Japan but neglects us here in the US by either not releasing the same content or waiting extended periods of time to do it.
Just to play the Killzone 2 demo here in the US before it came out you had to pre-order the game meaning you had to purchase the game even before it came out. All the while on the European Playstation store the demo was just a free download. I know because I made fake European account and downloaded the demo ahead of time.
Oh and yes PSN is free which is nice but from my experience the online play in games over PSN is not as good or as high of quality as on Xbox live. The bluetooth headsets don't seem to work as well as the Xbox live headsets, there are less people on PSN than on Xbox Live, and most dissapointing games like Resistance 2 get crappier graphics when more people are playing. There's no excuse for that in my book. Resistance 2 boasts this awesome 64 player online gameplay but what fun is it when the graphics are dumbed down to Nintendo 64. People say that graphics shouldn't matter if the gameplay is fun but it matters to me when they show the game looking awesome then you actually play it and it looks like a steaming pile of pixelated turds.
Furthermore if you played Resistance 2 you probably know that the game is too dark and that there is no in game brightness adjustment to make it better. That's about the stupidest thing I ever heard of. Yes I know that that is not Sony's fault but it just goes to show that some of the first party titles out there for the Playstation could of used a bit more attention to detail.
no frag... remind me where to go for the netflix streaming and instant que on PSN? I cant seem to find it. oh and where is the place to go and watch movies with your friends? I cant find that either...
Based on my own personal experience and that of people I know I find that failure rate entirely believable. The main thing that keeps me from opening up my 360 and fiddling with it is knowing that with it's track record it's practically guaranteed to RROD again and I want that warranty sticker intact so I can pawn it off on Microsoft when it does. My parents have a PS3 back home, it's a nice system and the hardware has a lot of power but overall I prefer playing on the 360 (my hands don't seem to conform very well to the ps3 controller). Also Forza is a game I really enjoy and that's only on 360. For me at least Sony is a bit behind on exclusive games I really want to play than Microsoft, they have a history of their systems being harder to develop for which probably doesn't help them.
Hardware-wise the PS3 really has more features. Being able to swap out for a standard 2.5" HDD is a big deal in my eyes and a huge annoyance with the 360. Microsoft is using their non-standard HDD enclosure/connector to gouge us like crazy on the prices for them (go take a look at prices on 2.5" HDD's on Newegg if you don't believe me). Blu-ray support is something the 360 doesn't have an answer to, for me it's not a big deal since I don't own any blu-ray discs.
$99 for the wireless adapter is also a complete rip, for that cost I have two routers with upgraded antennas and custom software running my network and connecting wirelessly to someone else's router for my internet connection. There's no way they can justify the hardware cost of that adapter, if it were reasonably priced it wouldn't be a sore spot for me but when it costs half as much to buy an entire wireless router and configure it to grant your 360 wireless access that's ludicrous.
Controller wise I prefer the layout of the 360 controller by a long shot, it just feels better to me. Software and LIVE are where the 360 makes some gains feature wise. Netflix is a godsend, Last.FM is on it's way which I'm pretty excited for. All LIVE vs PSN gameplay aside more of the people I know play on LIVE and since I prefer playing with people I know that's an automatic win for LIVE.
