I've always wanted a desert eagle, oddly enough they aren't banned in Canada yet. Can you really call it a pistol though? more like a cannon isn't it?

Desert Eagles chambered in .50AE aren't really any more powerful than a .44, but they are bigger, heavier, unwieldy, overly complex, and a pain in the ass to maintain. Desert Eagles have developed this mythic following as the end-all-be-all handgun, but it's mostly Hollywood BS. At best it's a nice toy to take to the gun range and play with, but I'd never own one for hunting or self defense purposes.

Personally, even though I don't own one, I like the Desert Eagle. It shoots through schools...

No good for self defense? I doubt you'd need to fire a shot, one look at the size and the perp would have no choice but to fear the loss of an appendage. Although it wouldn't be easy to conceal, so if you were carrying one, you probably wouldn't be confronted in the first place.
