my son really wants a airsoft gun and we are thinking about getting one for him for christmas. just starting to look at them and need some help. Should he get the gas or electric. For the "backyard" warrior what would be best? Also what king of accessories would be good? Goggles, mask..... Best brands, what to stay away from and so on...
Thanks

Hell, I'm 20 and use an air soft pistol every time I go fishing. Makes great cotton mouth killers. Mine is a cheapo $20.00 one from walmart. Runs on its own air instead of CO2 tanks. Mine doesn't get near the speed that the CO2 powered ones will, but they still do damage.
I don't know that he needs a mask though. Just my thoughts unless he plans on getting a whole bunch of friends together to shoot at each other.

Eye protection is a must! The electric cheepies are about the lowest feet per second, i would recomend starting with one of those. here is a good site with good descriptions and recomendations. Just for gee whiz info, these friggin things HURT! LOL
he is 15, him and his friends plan on having battles against themselves and then team up against other "teams" I have taught him all about gun safty with my co2 pistol. He is a pretty good shot and understands NEVER to point the gun at anything your not wanting to shoot. One of his friends lives on 3 - 4 acres and has corn, trees, grape vine, sheds, all kinds of natural and unnatural hiding places... I am thinking I want to get one also!
i was at a gun shop one time and shot a full auto p90 replica that shot around 300-350 fps and was battery powered. that thing was awesome.
make sure you buy higher quality ammo, the walmart stuff has a mold lip on it and will screw up the higher quality guns.
also get a mask that will cover your ears and neck. those things hurt, a lot.
a little tip for a shoot out, if you have an accurate enough gun, aim for the hands, there is no fat between the skin and bone which means maximum pain.

dont be such a liberal nancy paul..buy the boy a real handgun.
HA!!! He's only 15, the handgun is on MY christmans list. that, or a nice .22 with scope I have been eyeing (Don't need a permit for that) OR a nice shotgun for skeet! HELL one each!!! Whatever my wife doesn't get me, I'll get before new years!!
ok seriously,
i love mine, they're a blast,
my buddy shot me in the hand with one of mine today, got both the knuckles on my pointer finger, that freaking hurt, def couldnt squeeze a trigger if i had to shoot back, and i was wearing insulated gloves, wow.
the toip one is my pulsar, thats the one i got hit with today, 300-350 FPS, full/semi auto, battery powered
it'll tear through pop cans with ease, actually blows through both sides if you're close enough with .25g ammo.
do not let him have a gun without glasses or a mask, and id say add some thick clothing to his stocking.
