.45 cost.
Whats a .45 going to set someone back? My dad has been wanting one for a while now. So I though I should look into it a bit more. I'm only 18 so I can't get it for him but my sister she is 21 and she can.

Between $5-600 for a no frills model up to $2,000 for a decked out one. I picked up this one for I want to say around $525, It's a Springfield Arms 1911a1 MIL SPEC, I had it ordered with the wood GI grips. She doesn't have all the fancy things like a Kimber, but she doesn't have the failure to feed and light primer strike problems my friends Kimber does.

If I'm going to buy one I think it will be a colt unless someone can point out a better .45. I'm shooting for a nice basic will a little flair. I don't want to go all out on it and him not like it. I'm not sure if I want to take him with me and my sister to get the gun or not. I would really hate for him not to like it. I would be so pissed. I guess I'm going to have to start doing some hand gun home work lol.
For quality, it's hard to beat a Springfield 1911. Colt ain't what is was thirty years ago. I have the same Mil-spec as Hoss. Picked it up new in the box about five years ago at a gun show for $450.
If you want "all the bells and whistles" seriously look at a Taurus M1911. It comes "standard" with 19 features that would be "add ons" or "upgrades" on a standard 1911. These would cost about $1500 to add to an out of the box, no frills 1911 like my Springfield Mil-Spec, at a gunsmith.
ALL FOR A COST OF AROUND $700!!!

Yes, that is a gun in my pocket and No, I am not happy to see you!
If your gonna go kimber I've heard the internal extractor model are more reliable out the box then the external extractor models. You might look in to ed brown and wilson combat products too. Both great pistol makers.

I personally am a Kimber fan as well... they are pricier but well worth the extra couple of hundreds... You should be able to get a nice one for reasonable cost.
My fav is my Kimber Eclipse Target II .45! I paid right around 1100 out the door with 2 boxes of ammo and as you see.
