Default I need some info. on a 360

I will be building my first 360 engine later in the year. I need to know what is the standard deck height for this block? Say a 70's model.

Does any crankshaft company produce a crank with a stroke of about 3.750? I have found a 4 inch but that will put me over cubic inch. I have to stay under 406.

Is it ok to bore a 360 block to 70 over?

Does any aftermarket cylinder head company produce a cast iron head?

Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks Derrick, new to the world of Dodge.

if you go smaller on the bore, and longer on a stroke youll still stay under your limits.

although it may take more time for your engine to "wrap up" (rev up) due to the longer stroke.

with that kind of attitude no one around here is gonna help. lose the smart @$$ know it all attitude, and you might find some help.

you ask for info, you get some, then you say i know that, anyone else.

as far as the heads go, i doubt it, most of whats made today is all aluminum.

it has a bore of 4.00 inches, stroke of 3.58 inches, 8:1 compression ratio.

if you go .0070 over with stock stroke(3.58") youre looking at roughly 361 cubes.

why would you want to go over the stock stroke, if youre boring it out?
id go for a shorter stroke.

I just need my questions answered. I am not stupid when it comes to building engines. I just don't have any info on a 360. As far as the attitude goes you can kiss my ass. Don't be afraid to spell it neither. You didn't impress me one bit with the lack of info you gave in the first place.

OK stop the antagonizing, thomas, your attitude will not be tolerated by the "seasoned" members here. If you want your questions answered listen to what we give you, we dont know the extent of your mechanical knowledge, so when you get an answer you dont like, dont give any attitude, please.

thank you rare aries, thoguh i mgiht have given a bit of attitude in the second post. now sorry what info i knew wasnt what you were looking for, i shared what i knew. as far as going over, i talked to a master tech, and got friend of mine who both know these motors like the back of their hand, and they said they wouldnt bore anything 70 over, not even a marine block.

are you sleeving the cylinders? if not, id call 70 over risky.
it sounds like youre building a stock car motor? i dont know that ive seen a set of aftermarket heads that were not aluminum, but most of the aftermarket heads for small block mopars are lighter, cleaner versions of the mopar performance heads (X, J). Im running mid 80s 360 heads on the mirada, with a 340 30 over..and im making almost 500hp. its not a chevy engine..you can make good power with 'factory' heads.

i know that lots of guys are running strokers around 400 at the dragstrip, but im not certain of what crank they are using...but im pretty sure that a stock bore 360 with a 4.000 stroke will give you 402....at that point, boring the block will put you very near your 406 goal.
