This article applies to the Crew Cab Dodge Ram 1500 4th Generation (2009-Present).

Flat load floors are one of those recent truck innovations that will make you wonder why somebody didn't think of them before. Having a flat floor in the rear of your truck gives you increased cargo capacity, and just makes it easier to load stuff in the back of your truck. Unfortunately for Dodge Ram Crew Cab owners, the folding flat floor isn't an option as Dodge only offers them in their Quad Cab models. But that didn't stop some Ram owners from finding a way to make it happen, of course. As it turns out, the fold flat floor pieces simply bolt in place even in the Crew Cab models. This is a direct bolt-in installation, except that there are no studs for the rear bolts. Thankfully, that's not a deal breaker because the front bolts hold the fold flat floor in place just fine, and proves to be just as sturdy. Keep reading as this article will guide you through a folding flat load floor installation.

Materials Needed

  • Flat load floor piece (Dodge Part # 82209986)
  • 10mm socket with ratchet (or wrench)

Step 1 – Remove the rear trim pieces

  • Pull off the trim pieces on each side of the seat frame brackets. Each is held in place by three push fasteners.
  • Remove the first two, then push the seat up and out of the way to reach the third.

Step 2 – Remove the rear seat lids

  • Use a 10mm socket with ratchet to remove the two outer screws on each lid.
  • Then, remove the springs and loosen the inner screws.

Step 3 – Install the flat load floor piece

  • Slide the float load floor piece into place, and re-install the two front seat bolts. The Crew Cab Ram does not have the studs to use the rear holes, but the fronts will hold it in place just fine.
  • Repeat the steps on the other side to finish the installation.
