This article applies to the Dodge Ram 4th Generation (2009-Present).

The parking sensor in your Dodge Ram is designed to help you to safely park your truck without colliding into any obstacles on the side of the road, or in parking lot. Specific safety measures are also built directly into your Ram's MyGIG multimedia entertainment system to keep you safe, such as not allowing you to input a point of interest (POI) into the navigation system while the truck is moving. However, you can bypass the system manually for greater control over your MyGIG multimedia entertainment system, and how it operates in relationship to your truck's movements. The process is easy, but also be aware that inputting information while driving can be a hazard for you and other drivers on the road.

Material Needed

  • None

Step 1 – Bypass the function manually

  • Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
  • Put your truck in "Drive" to switch out of video mode on the display screen.
  • Then put your truck in "Park." The screen will say "View Video" and the video mode should reappear.
  • Click the "Audio Control" screen.
  • Put your truck back into "Drive."
  • Lastly, press "Done" on the display screen.

Every time you start the car, this step must be repeated to bypass the system.

Step 2 – Have the dealer change your system's operating software

You might want to consider upgrading your system's operating software, so you don't need to bypass the system before moving forward. Plus, upgrading your system's operating software will give you access to the most up-to-date navigation and entertainment features.
