THE Emblem

1. 1914 Dodge Emblem

The very first emblem that was designed by the Dodge brothers was misunderstood by many. Various people think that the star represents the Star of David; however, the emblem wasn't associated with Judaism. The star on the emblem was explained by Chrysler, claiming that the white triangle represents the soul, while the dark one represents the body, and together, they represent the union between the two brothers.

2. 1928 Dodge Emblem

After the death of the Dodge brothers in 1920, Dean Clark, the son of Chrysler's first main designer, explained the emblems further, claiming that the triangles represented the brothers' engineering skills. The white and black showed how different the brothers were from each other, while the interlocking of the triangles explains how inseparable they were. We would like to think the wings on the 1928 emblem were added in memory of the brothers' death.

3. 1951 Dodge Coronet Emblem

The Dodge emblem was changed in 1938 to the gold-winged logo, and it wasn't until the 1960s before it completely disappeared. The logo was a crest with red bars, which represented the Dodge family coat of arms. This Dodge emblem can still be found on collectible Dodge Coronets from that era.

4. 1970 Coronet Emblem

This logo was used from 1962 to 1976, and if you are a hardcore Dodge enthusiast, you may know it by the name Fratzog. The reason behind the name was completely vague, as the designer was told that he had to name it something, so he chose Fratzog. The emblem was designed to remind people that Chrysler also made reliable rockets for the space program, hence the three rockets.

5. 1932 Dodge Ram

This emblem is the original Dodge Ram logo, and it was designed by sculptor Avard Fairbanks, a prominent sculptor and head of the sculpture department at the University of Michigan. The story goes that Fairbanks drove a 928 Willys-Knight wouldn't start on cold Michigan mornings. He needed something more reliable to drive but being that America was in the midst of the Depression he couldn't afford one. So Fairbanks offered to design a hood ornament in exchange for a new car. After designing both the Ram ornament as well as the Plymouth "Flying Lady," Fairbanks was rewarded for his efforts with a handsome, red 1932 Chrysler Royal Eight.

6. 1960s Dodge Truck Emblem

This emblem is believed to be Dodge's best emblem to date, in fact, many Dodge owners still purchase aftermarket emblems that model this one to install on their custom Dodges. This was used on Dodge cars in 1951 and 1952, and it was sold as an accessory for Dodge trucks until the late '60s.

7. THE Emblem

There is no need for introductions. This is the Dodge emblem we all know, and it has been the official Dodge emblem since the '90s. Dodge designers believe that an ornament doesn't flow well on the Dodge cars and trucks, but this one represents the power, smoothness, and aggressiveness of the Dodge brand perfectly.
