Default spark plugs

How big of a pain is it to change the plugs in the HEMI for an 05 Durango? I can work on about anything, well at least enough to screw it up. I just can't bring myself to pay $300+ for a change in plugs. Let me know your thoughts.

Well the Hemi has 16 spark plugs which really sucks. [:'(]I have looked at that engine and the two rear ones on each side look a little tough but do-able. Probably have to take off all the air intake stuff and go from there.

Use copper core plugs and not platinums or iridiums!

It's not that bad to change the plugs. It takes a couple of hours to do the job. I'm pretty tall so its not hard for me to reach the rear plugs, but large hands go with being tall and itis pretty tight way backthere.I changed mine at 32k milesand they were beginning to show a little wear.

Make sure you getsome dielectric grease for the spark plug boots.

My take on the plug change is it does take some time. I broke mine down into right and left on different days. I think the total time was 3-4 hours. The rear ones on each side are the hardest to do and they will challenge you the most.

$300?? Wow, I never even checked to see what it would cost, but glad I am able enough to do it myself. I say go for it, its not that bad. The big thing I had to fight was taking off the plug wires, one pulls out and the other is held on with two bolts.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Is there a reason not to use platinums or iridiums? Not sure what to use.

Use Copper, is what came on these trucks. The others run too hot for these engines.

For all of those who havethe 5.7 motors, I find taking the inner fender well out, and they are bolted with 5/16 screws and remove the plugs from the bottom. It took me only one hour to change 16 plugs.

Do a search for tips for plug change on hemi. Its all you need to know. I also put platinum plugs in and have had zero problems for 20k miles on my ram and 15k miles on my durango. Don't believe everything you read.
