Oil Filter Comparison

I see an old thread poped up on how not to buy stp oil filters.

I see alot of recommendations for FRAM and MOPAR. It made me remember an old website I once visited so I will share it with you:

This site has a complete tear down of all oil filters on the market. As you can see FRAM and MOPAR are the two single worst oil filters on the market.

If you google somthing along the lines of "fram oil filters cardboard" you will see why these filters are junk. No other oil filter companies take this penny saving rt. If you visit the BITOG forum you will see how lots of people have dry startup, bad oil analysis results, and noisey cold starts due to FRAM oil filters.

I stopped using them before I bought the dakota. Ironically they are the most available and supported brand in stores, but they are junk.

Ive never heard of any true failure due to a fram, but considering most you guys are really into your trucks and taking care of them, I figured I'd just let you guys know.

yeah, I would say that if you spend any amount of timeover 3K (synthetic users) you shouldnt use a Fram... I would say that napa filters are a cheap and safe way to go...

Wix is a good filter too (same as napa golds...)

so, im running napa gold with amsoil. how long do you think i can go on it without changing it? i was thinking of changing it out at 5k, but im kinda lazy and dont really want to.

you can go 7500 on a wix. I wouldnt go much further. I sellwix and have used them for many years on my old dumptruck fleet

thanks turbo, ive got 4500 miles left then. hopefully by that time i can afford amsoil tranny fluid and gear oil too.

Damn you guys change ur oil filtersdurning extended drains? Why not just change the oil then lol. I run mobil 1 15,000 miles per change, and i use regular oil filters, i dont change them until i change the oil.

So I only have to get under there once a year.

5 quarts regular 5W-20 and a Purolator filter for $12.99 from Advance...can't beat it.
