Default Why no platinum plugs for the 4.7?

Hi I am new to this forum and have some of the common issues with my vehicle, but my question is why do they say not to run platinum tipped spark plugs in the 4.7L motor? I just installed a set and then read about it being a no no, and was wondering why before I go back in to change out the brand new plugs, also if there is a recommendation for what type of plug to run I would like to hear it please.
Thanks in andvance.

SVT:

As Colonel Potter would have said from M*A*S*H, "Buffalo Bagels."

My dealer told me that the 4.7 "is not designed for platinum plugs." However, I have been running the (RC12PYP) Champion platinum equivalent to thefactory Championplug for over 40k, and so far so good.

If theOEM copper units would last longer than 30k, Iwould run them, but in this day and age it's crazy that any engine would use a plug only good for 30k.

Both Ford and GM have been running OEM platinumssince the mid 90's that will do 100k.

Why Chrysler chose to stick with such a low/old tech plug is beyond me.Possibly they saw more money with increaded service intervals, or the info I heard that Chrysler has a financial interest in Champion plugs has some validity.

I think all the recommendations against the use of platinum plugs is for the5.2/5.9 family that still uses the traditional distributor coil vs the new ignition system the 4.7 uses. I think using platinum plugs on a modern 4.7 should be okay.

I use the new iridium plugs that are way better than platinum. The end of the iridium is like a ultra sharp pencil and is very hard material. Very hard plug to foul up as well. I can tell on my 5.9 that the idling is much smoother and easy to start vs the copper plugs I had before.

Thanks for the info I was told by a mechanic to try the Bosch platinums which I did and then I joined this forum looking for info on my A/C problem and found some DIY posts that said don't use platinums and that Dodge advises against it so didn't want to hurt anything and was going to change the new ones out for the Champions.

the triple tip is the problem bc as the tips wear eventually all the spark will come off of the closest tip(only one) and they wont work as well,

i have also heard that the tips are too small and carbon up easily if you do alot of city driving so if you watn platinum just use single tip platinum
