Default Oil problems

My 87 318 has 120,000 miles on it and the oil pressure gauge is showing around %25 of the way on the gauge. I also get oil seeping out somewhere on the driver side of the engine and it leaks onto the exhaust manifolds and burns.

How can I tell if this is something that can be fixed easily or do I need an overhaul

Depends on how well it was maintained all it's life and how badly it was beat on. You might be able to pull the oil pan and check the pump screen and replace the pump anyway since you are in there. And you could try replacing the oil pressure sending unit first. But, the leak is probably the valve cover gasket.

Odds are if it's not making any bad noises the pressure switch or the pump screen or pump is going bad.
