I was just wondering whats the big deal with the stock tires. Everyone seems to think they suck. I see ads all the time for them and they are supposed to be pretty good. Could you guys point out whats wrong with these tires. Also, could anyone recommend a good, performance oriented set of tires? Thanks

they are definetely good tires, but they are 205s, while we can run 225s. Every SRT-4 owner knows about the traction problems that we have launching, so wider tires is the way to solve it. G-force sports are good. 225s
Other than a little small, good in dry and wet but bad in snow.

All on every day street tires at Martin Mi. Knoll Gas 131 Motorsports park.
Yes too small. I have 225/40ZR18 G-Force Sports and love them. But those KDW's.....at 40-45mph my god do they SING! The humming can get annoying without the aid of a radio. But they are good tires, dont get me wrong.
And you cannot run a 225 on a stock wheel, the stock wheels are 6" wide, and running a 225 on them isnt neccessarily recommended by any tire manufacturer. Not that it can't be done, but it isnt smart.
i own a 03 srt4 and i have went through two sets of tires already. my biggest prob is the launching off the line. what are any suggestions on fixing that and keeping the stock rim?
I like my stck tires.. but, like pressure said it suks for SNOW[&:]

Ive had no problems with the stock '03 Pilot sports or the KDW's I bought w/ rims for 400 bucks. I dont notice much noise diffrence between the two and I dont drive my car at all in the winter.
The stock tires are great, one of the best made and they grab like crazy sticking through curves as if it were on rails. They only suck for drag launches because they are too narrow, it would be far better with 245's, but it only has 205's which are far from enough to put their power to the ground effectively.
I would say that the tires are good for stock tires.
If you push the performance envelope, though, like any car, you need to compensate.
That is when the real problem arises. The guys at dodge were a little lame in choosing to go with a 17x6 rim. Even with the 205's, cornering is much improved with a 7" wide rim.
