The Chrysler Group announced at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show that they will be launching a new Ram Commercial division and along with the bad ass Ram Heavy Duty lineup - Chrysler will be launching a new large van based on a European model sporting the name Ram ProMaster.

The 2014 Ram ProMaster will be closely based on the Fiat Ducato but Chrysler has promised that this modern day Ram Van will wear the distinct styling cues of the Ram brand along with an engine lineup that will be specific to the North American market.  On the outside, this means that we can expect to see a crosshair grille design similar to that found on the Ram Truck lineup but it will be interesting to see just how much of the European styling of the Fiat Ducato is replaced as Chrysler develops the new ProMaster.  Like the Ram C/V that is based on the Dodge Grand Caravan, the ProMaster will likely have option packages that include the buyer's choice of solid metal sides (creating a panel van look) or normal glass windows around the sides and rear.

Nine Cars Which Made the 2012 L.A. Auto Show Awesome

la-auto-main.JPG
This was my fourth time attending the L.A. Auto Show, and while I didn't get as much free food or booze as I did last year, car-wise, it was my favorite. As I pointed out in my earlier post, FIAT had a fantastic press conference to show off the 500 Abarth convertible and its green little cousin the 500e.

L.A. Auto Show 2012: Return of the Dodge Charger Daytona

IMG_9918.jpg
Get behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger and you're ready to race. The big-block engine, the muscly front end, the growl and squeal of the tires all help sustain the fantasy of shooting off the light and barreling past the checkered flag. Dodge knows this. You know this. And to amp up the excitement, Dodge is bringing back the Daytona as a limited edition option package for 2013.

Booth Ambassadors of the Los Angeles Auto Show

Portrait-LAAS-Dodgelead.jpg

The LA Auto Show is one of the biggest, most lavish shows of the year. LA (and California in general) is a huge market for auto makers, so when they bring it, they bring it.

That, apparently, also applies to the incredibly knowledgeable (and gorgeous) booth ambassadors. Is it suprising that they're most female? No, not really, but honestly we're not complaining. The floor was over run with sweating dudes with cameras and geriatric business men. These women provided a welcome change of pace from the overbearing manliness of the show.

FIAT at the 2012 L.A. Show: Ma Mopar's Sexy Italian Cousin Stuns

Leave it to the Italians. Given that Fiat was releasing a cloth-roof version of it's pocket rocket Abarth, I was pretty certain Sergio and company would run with the whole topless analogy, and I wasn't dissapointed. The press conference featured a pair of new commercials, one for the Abarth and one for the all electric 500e.
