In an Era of Recyclable Car Designs and Questionable Fashion, These ’60s Photographs Bring Us Back

Things were once simple, more straight forward. If you were around in the ’60s, you most likely didn’t feel that way then, but you probably do now. Cars, trucks, sports, and — let’s be honest — women and fashion were a lot different. If not better.

Big fins, big motors, and the ability to hit the open road with a sense of freedom is something that is seemingly no longer available. Smartphones, GPS, notifications, and never-ending traffic have just about killed the great American road trip. And don’t get us started on the opposite sex and their idea of “fashion.”

In an effort to help you reminisce a little, we’ve brought you these amazing photographs from 1963 and 1964. Taken by Gene Laurents, they were featured in the November 1963 edition of Vogue, for a column titled: “I ADORE CARS.”

You’ll find plenty of beautiful rides and gorgeous women in these photographs, (h/t devodotcom). Like the 1964 Chrysler Turbine featured above. Next to it, a sharp-dressed woman appears ready for action. What that action is? We’ll leave that up to your imagination.

Enjoy!
