2000+ HP Viper ACR Absolutely Decimates At 1/2 Mile Drag Event

If you thought Demons were the only juggernauts on the strip, wait until you see this Viper duo05 in action.

2019 is the kind of year where one of the world’s fastest straight line speed production cars is made to resemble a still image by a car substantially faster. While the Dodge Challengers and Chargers have been making all the headlines for that last couple of years with the releases of the various Hellcat variations including the Demon, the Viper has been sitting back in the shadows patiently waiting to strike. When it strikes, it hurts a lot of unsuspecting victims. Don’t ever forget about the Viper, it will make sure you don’t when you think you can.

ThatRacingChannel debuted a selection of five different Vipers attending the yearly Peaks Peak Airstrip Event in Colorado. These beasts were brought out by none other than Viper-specific heavy hitter Calvo Motorsports. To call the list of cars they brought out to this event crazy would be a very soft description. Calvo became the world record holder for the fastest Gen V Viper in the half mile at 214 mph back in 2016 and has only gotten faster since. They make fast cars racing against them looking their barely moving in comparison.

How does Calvo Motorsport manage to make these cars so damn fast? This is thanks to their custom twin turbo kit they built specifically for the V10. If you have enough money, they will build the same turbo kit for you as well. What is interesting however is the array of Vipers they brought to the event. 3 of the cars are what they described as the “big power” cars, but they also brought a fully naturally aspirated built Viper as well as a stock motor car.

However, the fastest of the bunch is the black 2016 ACR. Thanks to their turbo upgrades, this car makes an astonishing 2230 WHP. The first pass of the day the car was able to run a ground breaking 217 mph. Its setup is no secret however. The engine is a 9.0L stroker (a little over a half a liter more than the stock 8.4L) running twin 76mm turbos, custom HeadGames Motorworks heads and a dry sump oiling system. In addition a 9 inch rear end as been fitted along with a sequential shifter.

One of the other power cars they brought out was a 2014 GTS Carbon Anodized Special Edition. According to Calvo it has a similar setup as the black ACR, but is not running an air-to-liquid intercooler. However, it is running a 15″ rear tire conversion kit to fit crazily-sized drag radials. However, the most unique feature of this GTS is the fact that it is running an air-shifted sequential gearbox, which allows for perfectly seamless and consistently effortless shifts.
