2014 SRT Viper TA (Time Attack)

The Chrysler Group has been very quiet regarding changes to the 2014 SRT Viper shy of the addition of the new Time Attack model. But thanks to some insider info from Allpar, we have an idea of what colors will be available when the 2014 model year Vipers begin production in July.

The 2013 SRT Viper (base model) is available in six colors: Shadow Blue Pearl Coat, Adrenaline Red, Race Yellow Pearl Coat, Black Venom, Bright White Clear Coat and Gunmetal Pearl Coat. The 2013 SRT Viper GTS is available in those six colors along with two GTS-exclusive colors – GTS Blue Pearl Coat and Stryker Red Tinted Pearl Coat. 2013 Viper GTS buyers can also opt for painted stripes in Black, Silver or Gunmetal with stripe color availability varying based on the exterior color chosen (example: Black Venom Vipers cannot be ordered with Black stripes).

According to Allpar’s source, the 2014 SRT Viper will also be available with no less than eight paint color options with at least one of those choices being specific to the Viper GTS. Returning for the 2014 MY Viper are four colors including Adrenaline Red, Race Yellow Pearl Coat, Black Venom, and Gunmetal Pearl Coat. Bright White Pearl Coat may be replaced by a new white called Viper White (which may be the exact same color with a different name) while GTS Blue Pearl Coat, Stryker Red Tinted Pearl Coat and Shadow Blue Pearl Coat are gone altogether.

New for the 2014 SRT Viper are the color options True Blue Pearl Coat, Billet Silver Metallic and Stryker Green Tri Coat (GTS only). True Blue could be the replacement for the GTS Blue Pearl Coat but it is unclear whether True Blue will be a bright blue like GTS Blue or a darker blue like Shadow Blue.  My guess is that True Blue will be something brighter, more like the GTS Blue used for the launch of the 2013 SRT Viper. While the new Stryker Green Tri Coat will be specific to the Viper GTS, it is unclear if any of these other colors will be unique to the GTS and what kind of stripe color options we can expect for the new model year.

In addition to the eight colors discussed above for the 2014 SRT Viper and Viper GTS, the bright orange option that is specific to the 2014 Viper TA (shown above) will add a ninth color to the palate for the new model year and should there be a Viper ACR introduced during the 2014 calendar year – there could be another package specific color introduced well into the production run of the 2014 model year Mopar supercars.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
