Awesome Eighties Dodge Ramcharger Is a Two-toned Beauty

Is Dodge’s original SUV set to be the next hot classic?
A lot of classic car enthusiasts are just starting to realize how great vintage trucks are. That’s great; welcome to the club, gang. As such, we’ve heard a lot of talk lately about the iconic Jeep Wagoneer (duh). The timeless looks of the original Ford Bronco (uh-huh). The indestructibility of the Toyota Land Cruiser (yep). Those trendy classics may be good enough for some. But if you had to get somewhere off-road back in the day, and wanted to do it with some style, you went with a Dodge Ramcharger.
Dodge’s two-door SUV was based on the D-Series pickup and offered just the right amount of luxury alongside plenty of Mopar toughness. And, impressively, it was built from 1974 to 1994 – well, until 1996 in Mexico and Canada. To us, these trucks are ripe to become the next vintage vehicle to make a popular comeback in enthusiast circles. And if you need proof, this perfect two tone red and white ’84 that is featured in this post was recently nabbed for an undisclosed sum almost as soon as it hit the auction block.
This Ain’t No Garage Queen

Offered by Garage Kept Motors of Grand Rapids, Michigan, all this SUV apparently needs is a new carpet and a new owner. Purchased new in Oregon, it’s 35 years old and has about as much rust on it as it did when it left the factory. We love the color combo, and the matching white wagon wheels are the icing on the cake. But our favorite thing about these trucks is the too-cool side glass that rolls up onto the roof. Talk about design perfection.
A 360 cubic inch V8 provides power and is mated to a Torqueflite automatic transmission. The 4-wheel drive is a manual select system with locking hubs. According to the ad, everything works as it should. And at $11,900, it’s a lot of truck – ahem, classic vehicle – for the money.
With about 125k on the clock, it’s in a sweet spot. For one, there’s a lot of life left in it. But it isn’t so low mileage that someone will buy it and sock it away in a collection somewhere. This thing demands to be driven. We hope that the next owner listens to it.
