Carlisle Chrysler Nationals will Wreak Mopar Havoc this July
This year’s burnout contest winner will get a hat signed by NASCAR legend Richard Petty himself.
The Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is an annual activity-filled, all-Mopar event coming to the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania, July 13 to 15. There will be nearly 3,000 vehicles on display, but the Nationals are about so much more than just the cars.
This year highlights a handful of anniversaries that focus on Chrysler’s history. There will be “50 Years” displays of the Plymouth Road Runner, Dodge Super Bee, Hemi, and more notable Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. There will also be a limited-edition, die-cast A12 Road Runner to sweeten the celebration, too.
Guests include the infamous car club rivals Ramchargers and Golden Commandos, Herb McCandless, Linda Vaughn of Hurst fame, and, of course, Chrysler itself. Speaking of the McCandless family, the McCandless Antique Auto collection will feature some of the finest cars including a display of convertibles from the “Forward Look” era.
The Mopar garage always anchors a massive portion of the midway and they do their best to not only showcase their top products, but also feature a variety of show vehicles by canvasing the field to find owners of cars and trucks to interview and share their stories via Dodge and Mopar’s official social media channels.
Besides the show field, the Chrysler Nationals will also host a few fan-favorite automotive competitions, including the “Real Street Autocross Shootout,” “Thrill Rides with Dodge,” “Daisy Duke” contest and walk-arounds of the Dodge’s latest vehicles. Last but definitely not least, there’s the crowd-surging “King of the Hill” burnout contest, and this year’s prize is a hat personally signed by NASCAR legend Richard Petty.
There will also be seminars on older Mopars, too. Last year’s most popular exhibit, the “Restorers Roundtable,” is also our newest and will make a comeback this year as well. You’ll get a chance to consult with the best Mopar restorers in the business to finally conquer that hitch in your project.
Those who purchase tickets for the Chrysler Nationals also get access to the nearby Hurst Nationals on July 13 to 14. This event, open to all Hurst-equipped vehicles, is held just across the street at the Carlisle Expo Center where you’ll find an outdoor showfield and an air-conditioned, indoor invitational display. Free shuttles are also available.
With all the fun-filled shenanigans going on, there’s simply not enough daylight to accommodate it all. Much of it will roll into the evening such as the Mopar Hall of Fame on Saturday. Many enthusiasts, such as the Mopar Rebellion Car Club will once again host its annual event kick-off party at the Carlisle Expo Center. This party starts at 4 pm on July 12 and will host hundreds of cars, a BBQ, a DJ and more.
The kick-off party is free for guests and for event weekend itself, tickets and complete details are available here. Interested in gracing the fairgrounds with your own car? Take a look at online showfield registration here.
