This past weekend brought about the 8th annual Spring Festival of LXs and with such a massive group of Charger, Challenger, 300 and Magnum owners located in one SoCal location, the Chrysler Group used the show to debut the new limited edition SRT Charger 392.  Unfortunately, this new package doesn’t add any go-fast goodies but for a prospective Charger SRT8 buyer who is looking for a little more exclusivity out of their high performance super sedan – the SRT Charger 392 limited edition package could be ideal.

The new limited edition SRT Charger 392 is predominantly an appearance package, focusing the majority of the upgrade efforts on the exterior of the muscular sedan.  The bulging rear-center portion of the standard Charger SRT8 hood has been painted gloss black as has the roof, the rear spoiler and the familiar SRT 20 inch wheels.  Running the length of the lower portion of the body is a gloss black split stripe with the SRT logo embedded in this stripe at the leading edge of both front doors and a unique 392 badge finished in grey and gloss black differs from the “6.4L Hemi” badging found on the fenders of the current Charger SRT8.  Finally, the SRT Charger 392 gets a serialized dash plaque inside to show off the limited nature of this high performance Mopar sedan.

Mark Trostle, Head of SRT Design had this to say about the new SRT Charger 392:
“It’s a cool package.  When you think of old school muscle cars, you think of black accents and this car kind of handles that in a new way. Not the whole hood is black, just a portion of it and we’ve done it in gloss black versus a matte black. It definitely has a presence to it.  The stripe and decal complement the black on the upper side of the car really well and ties into the black on the wheels,” said Trostle. “It creates a really cool look. Plus, it has the badging of SRT on the side as well.”

In addition to the TorRed paint option shown in the image above, the SRT Charger 392 will also be offered in Bright White, Billet Silver, Plum Crazy and Hemi Orange.  Only 392 examples of this package will be produced and we can expect these special SRT Chargers to arrive later this year.  No pricing has been offered thus far but considering that it is really just a paint and decal package, the MSRP increase shouldn’t be too outrageous.  However, with only 392 examples being built, buyers may be forced to deal with the stupid *expletive* dealership markup.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
