A perfect blend of modern and old school, this classic Charger is actually a Hellcat Redeye in glorious carbon fiber disguise.

You’re more than likely familiar with the concept of a restomod. However, this classic Charger takes that concept to the next level. From virtually every angle, you’d swear you’re looking at a 1968 Dodge Charger. However, if you pop the hood or open the doors, you’ll find that, underneath, it’s a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

This beauty is currently available on Bring A Trailer and, at the time of writing, has a current bid of $230,000. It’s easy to see the appeal. Combining the iconic body lines and presence of a 1968 Dodge Charger with the modern amenities, safety, and practicalities of a 2022 Challenger is a hard-to-beat combination. Oh, right. The supercharged V8 under the hood, producing nearly 800 horsepower, is a notable feature as well.

Carbon Charger Appearance, Hellcat Redeye Performance

Exomod Concepts modified this car, which it calls a C68 Carbon “Goldfinger.” Undoubtedly an allusion to the classic Bond film, it wears Jet Black paint with gold stripes around the trunk in true classic Mopar fashion. Though there’s paint hiding it, the bodywork is entirely made from carbon fiber. The bare carbon pattern is still shown on the chin spoiler, rocket panels, door jambs, and rear diffuser.

Though the 1968 Charger was available with up to 425 horsepower courtesy of the 440 under the hood of the R/T model, the 2022 skeleton beneath the throwback bodywork puts out nearly double that.

The supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi pumps 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. It even has the SRT Power Chiller. For those not in the know, that’s the air-conditioning re-routing system to cool the inlet air as it enters the engine that Dodge first debuted on the Demon.

Old School Outside, Modern Inside

Inside, you’ll find that it’s effectively a stock Challenger Hellcat Redeye. Other than re-upholstery of the seats and door-panel inserts in Mahogany leather, it’s a modern and comfortable place to be. It has heated seats, air conditioning, remote start, a backup camera, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a subwoofer, and the signature Stellantics UConnect infotainment system.

While restomods may not be for everyone, the appeal is understandable. Having all the glorious looks of a classic with the everyday usability and ferocious power of a modern Hellcat Redeye is truly a way to have your cake and eat it, too. We’re going to be jealous of whoever takes this sweet ride home!
