Dodge Charger Daytona Convertible Drop Top Customs

The Dodge Charger Daytona convertible is set to debut soon, but this is our first look at the new drop top EV muscle car.

The proverbial paint is barely dry on the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona, as the embargo on press reviews just lifted not too terribly long ago and deliveries haven’t yet begun. However, many are already trying to figure out ways to modify the first-ever all-electric muscle car, as Dodge calls it, with most of these upgrades likely centered around aesthetics – you can’t exactly supercharge an EV motor, after all. For those that crave an open-air experience, a company called Drop Top Customs is already working on a Dodge Charger Daytona convertible, too.

Many Mopar fans probably already recognize the name Drop Top Customs, given the fact that it’s the same company that churned out convertible versions of the now-defunct Challenger, which developed a reputation for being very OEM-like in terms of quality and execution. Now, it has posted some photos of a Dodge Charger Daytona convertible on Facebook, noting that “it’s about time” to introduce the latest product to its catalog. The company had already announced that it was going to create a drop top version of the new EV some time ago, but this is the first time we’re seeing it in the flesh along with confirmation that it will indeed happen.

Regardless, one thing Drop Top Customs didn’t provide are any details about the new Dodge Charger Daytona convertible, or what’s been modified to make it a reality. What we do know is its predecessor required additional bracing to trim down on flex, meaning that it weighed more as a result, which is the case with pretty much all convertibles anyway. The Challenger convertible conversion isn’t cheap, either, at $23,999, so we imagine that the EV version will cost at least that much, and possibly more.

The Challenger convertible gets a power soft top similar to the one seen on this Charger Daytona, plus retracting quarter windows and a heated rear window, taking up around 20 percent of the trunk space as well. However, we imagine that at least a few owners out there will want to take advantage of this drop top conversion, at least, judging by how popular the outgoing Challenger convertible has proven to be over the years.
