Dodge Charger Stolen From Auction Lot

This poor Dodge Charger was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, leading to its untimely and ugly demise.

Many gearheads are quite familiar with IAA Auctions, Copart, and a host of other auction companies out there that deal specifically with damaged, wrecked, or salvaged vehicles, cars that were deemed unworthy of repair by insurance outfits. These are great sources of projects for YouTubers and other folks simply looking to save a buck and embark on a (sometimes) rewarding journey. However, a couple of thieves recently decided that they wanted to save even more money, and wound up taking off in a 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack and a 2016 Chevy Camaro from IAA’s lot in Ohio, though it didn’t end very well for them or the Dodge Charger, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

As IAA employees were just opening up their storage yard, the Dodge Charger and Camaro sped off, at which point the police were notified, as one would imagine. It wasn’t long before law enforcement came across both vehicles in the Uhrichsville area, and soon, pretty much every police officer in the general vicinity had engaged in a pursuit.

Neither thief apparently felt like going to jail on this particular day and paying for their crimes, though the Dodge Charger wound up paying the ultimate price, regardless. The person driving the modern muscle car lost control and promptly crashed after reaching speeds of 163 miles-per-hour, seemingly smashing into a utility pole, as we can see in the photos here. The Camaro driver wound up ditching that vehicle, and police found it empty and abandoned in a parking lot.

The Dodge Charger and its driver weren’t so lucky, as the car itself is a total loss at this point, far beyond the point of repair, even for a wide-eyed YouTuber looking to build their channel. The driver wound up suffering only minor injuries, it seems, as they were treated at a nearby hospital and then released into police custody.

Now, the Charger thief is facing a litany of charges, as one might imagine, a list that includes felony auto theft, fleeing and eluding, and various others related to driving and trespassing. As for the vehicles, they were impounded as evidence, but we have to imagine that this poor Charger will head to the scrapyard after the legal process has run its course.
