Dodge Demon Nearly Burns to The Ground At the Dragstrip
Who’s to blame for the demise of this beloved Demon, and was it resolved like it should have? We aren’t exactly sure.
If you own a Dodge Demon and you haven’t taken it to the drag strip, you are honestly not doing the car justice. It’s not really possible to use 800-plus horsepower on the street in anyway without being arrested within a couple seconds. That’s usually what happens when cars have 200-plus mph top speeds. However, this video brought to us by MotorTube’s YouTube channel is not to dishearten owners, but rather inform about a situation. Let’s get into the details.
This video was filmed at Milan Dragway in Michigan, a popular spot for drag racing in the Midwest. In attendance at this drag event was a host of cars, including several Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros, you name it. The subject of this event however is a particular red Dodge Demon with a hell of a lot of painter’s tape on the rear fender and bumper to ensure the paint condition isn’t ruined by the tire rubber.

As the Demon pulls up to the pre-staging area, he does, like nearly all competitors, a pre-run burnout to heat the tires and build some rubber. However, as the Demon finishes off his burnout, you can clearly notice that a small fire explosion occurs underneath the vehicle. At this point, we aren’t sure what the source or location of the fire is, but simply the fact that there is surely a fire.

As the tire smoke clears away, it is clear that the car still remains on fire, primarily with smoke coming out of the underbody of the car. At this point the cameraman alerts officials that the Demon is on fire and one marshal responds very quickly and begins to attempt to retard the flame directly under the car.

At this point, the situation really starts to devolve. The marshal tells the driver to turn off the Demon, but there is a string of miscommunication. The driver tells the marshal that the car won’t let him turn it off and he’s tried to, but the marshal doesn’t seem to understand and continues to tell him to turn off the car. Both individuals get very angry and the marshal then throws an expletive at the driver, which the driver then responds in kind tenfold, all while the car is literally on fire.

It gets to the point where the worker is so upset, he actually leaves the car to burn by walking away with both fire extinguishers. Both continue arguing and the car is still burning and all the other workers and officials literally stand around the car without taking any action. The workers, seemingly, have no interest preventing this limited model piece of history from burning to the ground and some of the responses from the marshal are honestly appalling.

To understand the full context of the video, it is best to watch it from the beginning, but from what can clearly be seen as the cameraman filmed this event live, the lack of professionalism and ethnic from the Milan Dragstrip workers is honestly shocking.
