Fast & Furious 9 Hellcat Widebody Appears On Vin Diesel’s Instagram

Charger is highly modified, with a custom hood, modified widebody kit and Demon design cues for the movie.
The iconic The Fast and the Furious movie series is getting another installment, and we keep getting little hints and clues as to what will be featured in it. Dodge is no stranger to the series, and especially not to the character that Vin Diesel portrays, Dom Toretto. He has driven a whole slew of Mopar dream machines. The list includes a 1970 Dodge Charger, 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, a 1972 Plymouth GTX and a collection of late-model SRT stuff. Dodge even bid on the hero car spot in 2 Fast 2 Furious with the Neon SRT-4. In a video posted on Diesel’s Instagram account, you can briefly see the Charger in question. He then hops out of the car and talks to the camera about shooting Fast 9 with costar Michelle Rodriguez.

Motor 1 points out some of the differences this car features from the production widebody Charger Hellcat. The most obvious is the hood. It’s much flatter, and broader scoop is reminiscent of the Demon hood. Well suited, then, are the Demon wheels it’s sitting on. A slightly less noticeable modification is the front fascia. It appears to be from a standard Hellcat, not a widebody one. The giveaway being the air intakes inside the headlight housings, which is only on the standard Hellcat and Scat Pack. While we don’t currently know what is done to the car mechanically, it’s safe to assume it’s not stock in that aspect either.

Given the history of the Fast series, it’s safe to assume this is one of the tame cars on set. The Ice Charger from Fast 8 is a prime example. The LS-swapped all-wheel-drive beast is far from stock. Though, the Chevy engine under the hood does break some Mopar loving hearts.
Fast & Furious 9 comes to theatres on May 22nd, 2020. Sure to be a thriller, we can’t wait to grab a bucket of popcorn and go check it out. The full list of cars in the film is currently unknown. Now that we know there will be some Hellcat goodness on screen, we can breathe a sigh of relief and get our tickets early.
