FIAT at the 2012 L.A. Show: Ma Mopar’s Sexy Italian Cousin Stuns

Leave it to the Italians. Given that Fiat was releasing a cloth-roof version of it’s pocket rocket Abarth, I was pretty certain Sergio and company would run with the whole topless analogy, and I wasn’t dissapointed. The press conference featured a pair of new commercials, one for the Abarth and one for the all electric 500e.

The Abarth is essentially the same 160hp, six-speed car with the cloth roof, and the gorgeous exhaust note should sound even better without a roof muffling it. No price was available for the electric version, but FIAT did release some details. Motivation comes from a 24kWh battery good for 111hp and 147lb-ft of torque, and range will come in somewhere between 80 and 100 miles, depending whether you’re cruising down the highway or trapped in stop-and-go city traffic. On a 240-volt outlet–like a washing machine takes–the sexy little Italian can fully charge its battery in just under four hours, which seems reasonable enough.

Check out a couple of videos from the press conference below.
