Forget the Chiefs, Ram Truck Wins Super Bowl with ‘Premature Electrification’ Ad for All-Electric Ram 1500 REV

Premature Electrification

The ‘Premature Electrification’ ad was not only hilarious, but it also signaled the opening of customer reservations for the Ram 1500 REV.

The Super Bowl has become as much about the ads as it has the football teams. Every year over 100 million people tune into the game. Some have a rooting interest in the contest. But many just want to hang out with friends, eat some wings, drink some beer and watch some funny commercials. This year one of the best was a 60-second spot called ‘Premature Electrification.’ You can view it now on the Ram Trucks YouTube channel. The ad was for the highly anticipated all-new, all-electric Ram 1500 REV. The ad did a brilliant and hilarious job at addressing potential concerns people have with electrification. These concerns are mainly around range, power, and payload. If you buy an all-electric truck, it still needs to do all the things a truck should do. But can it?

“We created this commercial to speak directly to Ram truck owners and potential truck owners to bring some lighthearted humor to the high-tech, EV conversation, which rightfully takes itself very seriously,” said Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis. If nothing else, it got people talking about the brand. At the Super Bowl party I was attending everyone was laughing the most at this ad and talked about it later. So, in my very unscientific poll, the commercial was a success. It also marked the opening of the reservation period.

So, what do we know about the truck so far? Not much really. We know it will be the first ever all-electric Ram pickup. It is expected to be available in Q4 2024. We also know what it will look like and the overall design. There will be a front trunk and an advanced interior. The truck should also be able to power your home should your grind go down. But as far as pricing and power output and so on we will need to wait until we get closer to release for those details.

Stellantis Electrification Plan

Premature Electrification

The all-electric Ram 1500 REV will be part of the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 plan. The plan was announced in March 2022. The high-level goal is for Stellantis to lead the fight against climate change. They have a goal of reaching carbon net zero emissions by 2038, with a 50 percent reduction by 2030. The company is targeting 5 million in annual battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales by 2030. They plan to reach this goal by offering more than 75 BEV models. Hopefully each of them will be supported with commercials as entertaining as ‘Premature Electrification.’ In case, you missed it, give it a watch below. We promise you will get a kick out of it.
