In just about any manufacturing industry where large quantities of product are being produced, a proof is made so that tolerances can be checked (and re-checked) before full-scale production can begin. The proofs are then generally tossed out after it has served its purpose.

In 1974, Plymouth built this proof for its ‘Cuda. The body is sectioned into labeled 5” x 5” squares so that the assembly line has a point of reference during early production. When assembly had gone into full-swing, this proof was miraculously spared of eminent doom. In fact, it had several near misses of either being destroyed by being crushed, or turned into a racecar.

This one-of-a-kind proof has passed through a few hands, but now it can be yours via Craigslist. For just $30,000, you can get a 1974 Plymouth Barracuda that shouldn’t be painted, modified, or have a powertrain installed. And when I say shouldn’t, I mean you will have a line of purists at your door with angry threats if you attempt otherwise. For those purists, we can only hope a kind Mopar fan will purchase it with the intent of putting it in a museum for display.
