Pennzoil ALMS Recap: Viper beats Team Corvette at Long Beach

The American Le Mans Series race on Saturday, April 21, in Long Beach saw the #91 SRT Viper of drivers Mark Goossens and Dominik Farnbacher finish in third place ahead of two C6R Corvettes in the ALMS GT class (tenth overall). The race was a battle to the end with the Viper leading until, with about fifteen minutes left, the Team RLL Frozen Black BMW Z4 GTE was able to pass, powering past out of a corner.

Later, with only moments left and the Viper experiencing some issues, the driver locked the brakes, sailed wide through a turn and left the door open for the other BMW Z4. Unfortunately, the #93 Viper of Jonathan Bomarito and Kuno Wittmer had problems all day and ended up in eighth place for the class. This was only the second race of a long season, hopefully the Viper boys can win one or two before the season is too far gone.
