GALLERY: Ram Shows Off New RV Match Brown at Dallas Auto Show

New Ram Laramie Longhorn two-tone accent color is designed for those who pull travel trailers and fifth wheels.

What can brown do for you? Well, Ram knows its new RV Match Brown can coordinate with the brown on the campers that 2017 Laramie Longhorn model buyers will end up pulling. We got a look at it when we attended the 2017 Dallas Auto Show media day.

Ram released official photos of the two-tone accent color that replaces White Gold and we made sure to share them with you earlier this week. It’s available on 1500, 2500, and 3500 models, and Ram brought one of each to the show, but, unfortunately, none of them were hooked up to a brown RV.

We focused mainly on the 1500 truck, which looked handsome in its combo of black and brown.

The same goes for the white-and-brown 3500 dually decked out in white and brown.

Seven other colors (on top) can be paired with RV Match Brown, including (Zoolander-esque) Maximum Steel, True Blue (we’re assuming it’s Madonna approved), and Delmonico Red (we get the feeling the Ram folks like their steaks rare).

We can see Ram moving a lot of these trucks, even to buyers who never tow anything. Down here in Texas, you don’t have to be out long to spot a two-tone pickup or three. When you count in the people who will use their 2017 Rams to pull a camper and consider how fancy and dressed up trucks in general are these days, it’s easy to imagine a lot of customers buying a new Ram truck to coordinate with their mobile weekend vacation home.

Let’s not forget about the interior, though. Its tooled leather and metal accents (gotta love those belt buckles on the backs of the front seats) make the Laramie Longhorn a good-looking rig from the inside out.

If you weren’t able to make it to the Dallas Auto Show in time to see the RV Match Brown Rams in person, don’t worry. They’ll be in dealerships in the second quarter of this year.

Derek Shiekhi's father raised him on cars. As a boy, Derek accompanied his dad as he bought classics such as post-WWII GM trucks and early Ford Mustang convertibles.

After loving cars for years and getting a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Derek decided to get an associate degree in journalism. His networking put him in contact with the editor of the Austin-American Statesman newspaper, who hired him to write freelance about automotive culture and events in Austin, Texas in 2013. One particular story led to him getting a certificate for learning the foundations of road racing.

While watching TV with his parents one fateful evening, he saw a commercial that changed his life. In it, Jeep touted the Wrangler as the Texas Auto Writers Association's "SUV of Texas." Derek knew he had to join the organization if he was going to advance as an automotive writer. He joined the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in 2014 and was fortunate to meet several nice people who connected him to the representatives of several automakers and the people who could give him access to press vehicles (the first one he ever got the keys to was a Lexus LX 570). He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition. Last year, his JK Forum profile of Wagonmaster, a business that restores Jeep Wagoneers, won prizes in TAWA’s signature writing contest and its pickup- and SUV-focused Texas Truck Invitational.

In addition to writing for a variety of Internet Brands sites, including JK Forum, H-D Forums, The Mustang Source, Mustang Forums, LS1Tech, HondaTech, Jaguar Forums, YotaTech, and Ford Truck Enthusiasts. Derek also started There Will Be Cars on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
