This AWD Challenger Is Part Charger Cop Car, Part Chrysler 300

The Dodge Challenger is not supposed to have anything but rear-wheel drive. It’s a brash American muscle car that weighs more than two tons. Power is its first, middle, and last name. That’s what it’s always been, and that’s what it always should be. But because the custom circus known as SEMA started this week, here we are, looking at an AWD Challenger with an eight-speed transmission. Vegas is not about what should be, it’s about what shouldn’t.

The car is indeed a one-off, but the parts used to create it weren’t built special. In fact, Dodge used a Challenger body and engine, grabbed an all-wheel-drive system from a Charger police car, and took the transmission from a Chrysler 300.

Under the hood of the wide-bodied GT AWD is a 450-horsepower V8. It’s been lowered, it’s sitting on 20×10 and 20×11 wheels, and it has strut braces for better handling.

Would you buy a Challenger that spread power to four wheels?
