Completely smoothed out and packing 528 cubes of Hemi power, SEMA offers us one heck of a nice ‘Cuda restomod.

You never know exactly what you’ll find while perusing the seemingly endless rows of cars and parts at the legendary SEMA show. But so far in 2019, we’re seeing all sorts of amazing modern and retro Mopar vehicles on display. That includes a host of Hellcats, of course, but also vintage machines like this gorgeous 1972 Plymouth ‘Cuda restomod we spied at the Mother’s display.

Owned by a gentleman named Jason Johnson out of Campbell, California, this ultra smooth ‘Cuda is easily one of the nicest rides we’ve seen thus far. The body itself is a proper work of art, with every piece of trim, handles, mirrors, and badges shaved for a super sanitary look. Huge Budnik wheels complete the modern look, and they’re wrapped in sticky Pirelli P Zero rubber.

This smooth and massaged two door hardtop ‘Cuda body is also hiding a host of cool modern kit underneath. The biggest change is an Art Morrison chassis, which undoubtedly makes this vintage muscle car ride, handle, and stop like a new one. Detroit Speed supplied the front and rear suspension setup, further fortifying those attributes.

Handling, along with looks, were also enhanced by moving the front wheels forward 2.5-inches. Which explains our initial impression that this particular car looked longer than your typical ‘Cuda of this vintage. Inside, you’ll find more custom bits including one-off Recaro seats and a bunch of hand-formed aluminum panels covered in leather.

Peek under the hood, and you’ll quickly find that this ‘Cuda packs a serious punch. A full 528 cubic-inches of 2nd gen Hemi, in fact. Fuel-injection undoubtedly helps tame the beast, which is controlled via a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. The prodigious power of the engine flows back to a beefy Dana 60 rear axle.

So far, this clean ‘Cuda is certainly one of the nicest Mopar restomods we’ve seen. But it’s still early. And we here at Dodge Forum are live here at SEMA all week. So stay tuned for all the hot rides as soon as we spot them!
