Can't get the distributor off??
 

I bought the avenger manual, we read the thing top to bottom. We still can't get the distributor off. It says there is only two bolts holding it in place, we took those off and still can't get the darn thing off. Anyone have any suggestions or know what we are doing wrong?

I'm lost, the V6 has a distributor and the I4 is distributorless. The I4 has a coilpack with 4 bolts holding it down, is that what you're referring to? It's most likely just stuck.

Ours is a V6 2.5 L not a 4 so it doesn't apply.

Ah, ok, I read your first post too fast and read it as Avenger manual :D. Most likely the dist. gasket is sealing it really well. Can you give it a "love tap"? Those two bolts are the only things holding in place+a really tight seal. Both of my manuals are only showing two bolts holding it. We are talking about the cap right and not the whole distributor unit?

Remove the bolts, remove the cap, and rock it up and down. You can also pry softly with a flathead, you'll see spots where you can wedge it in there. Usually oil cokes on the o-ring causing it to stick.
